Sencha Mint Tea
Sencha Mint combines the refreshing astringency of fine-quality Sencha, Japan’s favourite speciality Green tea, with just a delicate hint of the sweet vibrancy of African Spearmint.
This is a real feel-good tea. It can give you an invigorating energy boost at any time of day. And being packed with antioxidants, it’s good for you too!
Sencha is Japan’s popular spring-harvested green tea. If a Japanese person says “tea” then this is usually what they mean. Three quarters of all tea drunk in Japan is Sencha. It comes in various grades – Fukujyu is a good grade.
A blend of Green tea and mint is sometimes known as Touareg tea and is very popular in Morocco. It is usually made with Gunpowder tea, so this blend using high-quality Sencha is an exciting twist on an old classic.
To brew, place one tsp per person in a warmed pot and add fresh, boiled water that has been allowed to cool for one minute. Brew for 1 min and serve without milk or sugar. You can use the leaves again for a second and third infusion (with shorter infusion times, as the leaves are already moist).
