Pearls Over Oyster
Pearls Over Oyster is a spectacularly beautiful piece of hand-crafted artwork – a mixture of delicate young Jasmine-scented Green and White tea leaves, sewn together into the shape of a tightly-closed flower bud.
The real magic happens when the bud is infused in hot water. As the leaves absorb the water and expand, the bud opens and blooms – to reveal a small, pale flower in the heart of the bud, long, white, downy leaves gently moving around like a sea anemone in the hot water, and – the crowning glory – a string of “pearls” floating on a thread above the flower.
The flavour of these green and white teas is delicate, and sweet with a subtle Jasmine fragrance. This luxurious and remarkable piece of art is put together with painstaking and consummate skill. The tea is drinkable – and deliciously sweet and fragrant. This is the perfect end to a romantic celebration over dinner.
To start the show, place one flower bud into boiled water that has cooled for 2 mins in a very large wine goblet or glass bowl. Allow to steep for a couple of minutes, then see the petals of the “flower bud” begin to open.
