“Tea from the Himalayan Mountains - delicate and crystal clear.”
—Andrew

Nepalese Himalayan

Nepal’s climate is ideal for growing tea.  This tiny, breathtakingly beautiful kingdom lies between 3000 and 7000 feet above sea level.  Its steep, well-drained, mineral-rich soils, pure unpolluted mountain air and water, and moist, cool climate favour the production of small quantities of high-quality tea.

Tea production in Nepal follows the traditional smallholding system – quite unlike the vast tea plantations of Africa.  On average, each the 8000 farmers who together make up the Himalayan Tea Producers Cooperative Limited farms a mere quarter of a hectare of land.  The cooperative has established a set of organic and fairtrade standards, and provides education about natural farming methods.

The result is tea with a superb bright, floral aroma and clear, refreshing quality with a distinct taste of autumn fruits.  Tippy and well-made, the TGFOP1 grade dry leaf is tan and gold.   This is a high-grown Nepalese tea, with a brisk and rounded flavour and a bright liquor.  A delicious taste of a magical mountain kingdom.

To brew place one tsp per person into a warmed pot (or Mug Infuser) and add freshly drawn boiling water.  Brew for 3 mins.  Best drunk without milk and sugar, though a little may be used if desired.
