“Acts as a mild sedative to soothe and relax. Ideal before sleep.”

Hops

Hops are the female flower of the hop plant Humulus lupulus.

Traditionally used as a flavouring and stability agent in beer, they are also used in beverages and herbal medicines.  The medicinal properties of this amazing flower include its ability to soothe the stomach; act as a mild sedative to aid sleep; an appetite stimulant and a diuretic.  Several studies have also suggested that hops aid to suppress nervous tension and anxiety.

Hops produce a slightly bitter taste, contributing flowery, citrus, fruity and herbal aromas.   The light liquor is fresh, clear and cleans the palette, ideal before bed or when you want that perfect “tea” break to calm and relax your nerves.

To brew, place one heaped teaspoon of Hops per person into a warmed pot or Mug Infuser and add fresh boiling water.  Allow to steep for 3 minutes and then strain into mugs.  Best drunk without milk.

If you like Hops, how about giving Nettle Tea a go?
