The distinctive, uplifting flavour of coconut goes well with the rather sweet, fruity aroma of black China Congou tea. It makes for a highly unusual, immediately appealing tea, with the goodness and crunch of real coconut chunks.
The tea we used is fine China Congou, a naturally sweet, full-flavoured black tea with rich, complex flavour. The large, wiry leaf is visually attractive against the white of the coconut chunks and has a rich, sweet aroma when dry. It brews to produce a golden, coppery liquor in the cup. It has good colour, strength and brightness, and a distinct floral fragrance.
To brew, put one rounded tsp of Coconut Tea per person in a pot or Mug Infuser. Add fresh, boiling water. Brew for 4 min and serve without milk. Coconut Tea makes a delicious iced drink in the summer – how about using it for some unusual barbeque cocktails?
