Ceylon Estate Green Tea
Sold out of this excellent Ceylon green - we are hoping to obtain some more soon. Apologies.
A relatively small number of estates in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) produce green tea. We usually carry a stock of Ceylon Green Tea and it compares favourably with China and other green teas, with a more delicate flavour compared to the strength and occasional bitterness of Gunpowder.
The leaf is attractive, with a light green colour. It is rolled, but less tightly than Gunpowder, so it has the appearance of largeish nuggets that unfurl when placed in water.
The liquor is light, well-balanced and refreshing. It offers sweetness balanced with a hint of sharpness and subtle vegetal undertones. It is excellent as a light, refreshing summer afternoon tea or possibly after a trip to the gym, because it seems to rehydrate the body and relax the mind. We especially suggest this as a green tea for caterers, because it is more forgiving of errors in preparation that China green teas. Specifically, it does not become so bitter if over-brewed.
To brew, place one tsp per person into a warmed pot or Mug Infuser and add freshly drawn boiled water that has been allowed to cool for 1 min. Brew for 2 minutes, then serve in cups or mugs without milk.
Ingredients: Single Estate Ceylon Green Tea.
