Bancha Houghicha
Bancha is the late-harvested autumnal green tea of Japan. Houghicha is roasted Bancha and has a refreshing and nourishing toasted flavour with great warmth, subtlety and complexity.
Houghicha can be enjoyed at any time of day and is an excellent drink for a sunny afternoon in late summer and early autumn. It is well suited to drinking after dinner due to its palate-cleansing toasty flavour and its low caffeine content – this is not a tea that will keep you awake at night.
To brew, place one heaped tsp per person in a warmed pot and add fresh, boiling water. Brew for 30 secs and serve without milk or sugar. You can use the leaves again for a second and third infusion.
